The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has organized a three-day capacity-building workshop for 1,250 secondary school teachers across the state.
Declaring the programme open, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, reaffirmed the present administration’s commitment to improving the education sector through continuous teacher development and support.
According to her, the government has introduced several initiatives aimed at strengthening the education system and enhancing teachers’ performance across the state. She emphasized that training and retraining educators remain top priorities for the ministry in its effort to improve knowledge, teaching methods, and professional competence.
Hajiya Zainab noted that the administration of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, is passionate about teachers’ welfare and professional growth. She explained that the ongoing programme forms part of the government’s broader plan to reshape the teaching profession for better service delivery.
Speaking on the objectives of the training, the State Coordinator of the programme said the workshop is designed to equip teachers with additional skills, especially in areas such as computer literacy and the use of modern technology in education. He added that the training is being conducted simultaneously across the three senatorial zones of the state, in collaboration with several development partners.
The Commissioner urged teachers to adopt modern teaching methods and effectively utilize technological tools to enhance learning outcomes. She also highlighted the government’s commitment to providing qualitative education through new reforms aimed at modernizing the education system.
As part of these reforms, Hajiya Zainab disclosed that the state government recently distributed 30,000 electronic tablet devices to teachers to promote digital learning and improve classroom teaching.
She encouraged participants to make the most of the training and apply the knowledge gained to improve teaching standards for the benefit of students and the overall progress of education in Katsina State.
In their goodwill messages, participants expressed appreciation to Governor Dikko Umar Radda for giving them the opportunity to take part in the programme. They described the initiative as unprecedented and commended the governor for his commitment to revitalizing education in the state.
