In a decisive move to protect public health and ensure higher standards in medical education, the Katsina State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all private health training institutions in the state. This was announced today during a press briefing by the Honorable Special Advisor on Health Institutions to the Executive Governor of Katsina State.

The government’s decision comes after a comprehensive review by the Ministry of Health revealed that many private health training institutions were operating without proper registration and failing to meet critical safety and quality standards. The findings raised concerns about the potential risks these institutions pose to the public.

“While private health care plays a vital role in our health system, we cannot compromise on the quality and safety of training provided to future healthcare professionals,” said the Special Advisor.

Effective immediately, all licenses and registrations for private health training institutions have been revoked. A re-evaluation process will begin on Thursday, October 24, 2024, with proprietors required to present necessary documents for verification at the State Ministry of Health.

This bold step is aimed at ensuring that only institutions meeting stringent health and safety standards will be allowed to operate, providing a much-needed overhaul to the system. The state government has urged all stakeholders to cooperate during this critical process.

The shutdown will remain in place until all institutions have undergone thorough scrutiny and fresh registrations.
