Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KTSCHMA), in partnership with the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and with funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC), today joined national and state-level stakeholders at the Lagos Continental Hotel to present key achievements under the GAC-funded Primary Health Care (PHC) program.
The event, held on 11th September 2025, spotlighted Katsina State’s leadership in expanding health insurance coverage for vulnerable populations—particularly pregnant women and children under five—through counterpart funding and strategic enrollment under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) .
Since 2023, Katsina State has demonstrated unwavering commitment to inclusive health financing and gender-responsive service delivery. This progress is a direct reflection of the visionary leadership of His Excellency Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, whose administration has prioritized health as a cornerstone of development. His dedication to improving access to quality healthcare for the most underserved has been instrumental in driving forward the state’s health insurance expansion.
Equally commendable is the role of Honorable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Musa Adamu Funtua, whose tireless efforts in policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and health systems strengthening have ensured that Katsina remains a model for sustainable health reforms. Their combined leadership continues to inspire confidence in the state’s ability to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
During the meeting, KTSCHMA participated in a panel discussion on “Value for Money in BHCPF,” focusing on service utilization tracking, enrollee satisfaction, and sustainable exit strategies. The agency also contributed to an interactive session on expanding health insurance coverage for Nigeria’s informal sector—an essential step toward reducing out-of-pocket healthcare spending.
“We are proud to share Katsina’s progress and reaffirm our commitment to inclusive health financing,” said the Director General of KTSCHMA. “This initiative is transforming lives and strengthening our health system for future generations.”
The meeting also served to review and validate the Year 4 project workplan, ensuring alignment with the Federal Ministry of Health’s Health Sector Strategic Blueprint (HSSB) and Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp).
