A decisive move to strengthen the safety of students and learning centres across Katsina State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, has ordered the full activation of all school protection mechanisms under the command’s School Protection Squad.
The directive, issued after a strategic meeting with tactical commanders in Katsina, aligns with the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s nationwide mandate to reinforce security around educational institutions.
According to the Police Command, the renewed push will see additional resources deployed to vulnerable locations, heightened patrols around schools, and intensified intelligence-sharing among security units.
CP Bello Shehu emphasized that the measure is both preventive and strategic, noting that the safety of students remains a top priority. He urged residents to maintain strong collaboration with the police, stressing that community support remains vital in detecting and preventing criminal activities.
“We are committed to ensuring that every school in Katsina is protected. Security is a collective responsibility, and we urge the public to continue supporting our efforts,” he said.
The command encouraged citizens to promptly report suspicious movements or threats using its dedicated emergency lines: 08159677777, 07072722539, and 09022209690.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command.
