In a decisive operation against the escalating threat of banditry, the Katsina State Police Command, in collaboration with the Katsina Community Watch Corps (KTCWC), conducted a coordinated raid on the Burdugau bandits’ camp in Malumfashi LGA.
The targeted operation, executed by operatives attached to Kankara and Malumfashi Divisional Headquarters, resulted in the neutralization of several suspected armed bandits and the recovery of 332 suspected rustled animals on February 21, 2024.
Led by the notorious bandit kingpin, Babayo, the camp was a significant stronghold for criminal elements engaged in various illicit activities. The success of the operation demonstrates the commitment and bravery of law enforcement in tackling banditry within the state.
Regrettably, during the operation, a member of the Katsina Community Watch Corps and one vigilante group member lost their lives.
Additionally, one police officer sustained injuries but is currently responding well to medical care.
CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, the Commissioner of Police, commended the professionalism and courage displayed by the operatives, emphasizing the commitment of the command to safeguarding lives and property.
He expressed condolences to the families of the deceased officers and acknowledged the sacrifices made by these brave individuals in the pursuit of security for the residents of Katsina State.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Police Public Relations Officer, conveyed the CP’s assurance that the bravery and dedication exhibited by the officers would be remembered and recognized.
