In a major win against banditry, the Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnap attempt in the early hours of June 18th, 2025, rescuing four victims—including three women and a baby girl—at Mazare village in Sabuwa Local Government Area.

Acting on a distress call at exactly 12:21 a.m., operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Sabuwa swiftly mobilized to the scene where they encountered armed bandits attempting to whisk away the victims. Despite the attackers injuring two male residents, Sa’idu Isa (37) and Sa’idu Wa’alam (61), the police team engaged the criminals in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to flee and abandoning their captives.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, psc, fdc, MNIM, commended the bravery of his men and reassured the public of the command’s dedication to protecting lives and property. He urged citizens to continue collaborating with the police through timely reporting of suspicious activities.
