In a daring late-night operation on May 22, Katsina State Police Command foiled a deadly kidnap attempt in Malumfashi LGA, neutralising a notorious bandit and rescuing five injured victims.
The swift response followed a distress call around 10:15 p.m. reporting an armed attack on Unguwar Lado and Karo villages. Led by the Divisional Police Officer, operatives engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel, successfully eliminating Audu Kushin, a dreaded bandit from Tsamiyar Maigoro.
Though five hostages were shot during the crossfire, including community leader Mai Unguwa Usman, all were swiftly evacuated to General Hospital Malumfashi for urgent treatment.
Katsina Police Commissioner, CP Bello Shehu, praised the operatives’ bravery and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to crushing banditry across the state. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity promptly.
The manhunt continues for the fleeing assailants.
