The Katsina State Police Command has moved swiftly to clarify recent reports circulating on social media alleging the loss of eight lives due to a stampede at GRA Katsina.
The command categorically denies these claims and urges the public to rely on credible sources of information.
Following a thorough investigation, it was found that a former gubernatorial candidate, Sen Yakubu Lado Danmarke, conducted an alms/palliatives distribution at GRA Katsina, leading to a crowded venue that obstructed vehicular movement and public thoroughfare.
However, no fatalities were recorded, and the command had deployed personnel to ensure the safety and orderliness of the distribution process.
CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, psc+, Commissioner of Police for Katsina State, emphasizes the importance of obtaining accurate information from official sources and urges caution in sharing unverified information on social media platforms.
