The Katsina State Police Command has smashed a seven-man syndicate of suspected notorious armed robbers who have been terrorising residents of Katsina metropolis with phone snatching, shop break-ins, and armed robbery.
The suspects, identified as:
Abubakar Dayyabu (19), alias Antu, Abdulrahman Danjuma (25), alias Aguero, Dahiru Nuhu (21), alias Tsoho, Muhammad Yahaya (21), alias Lucas, Abubakar Idris (20), alias Makale, Bello Babale (34), alias Na Ande and Shafi’i Lawal (20), alias Dan Fefe
—all residents of Shararrar Pipe/Dan Hako Quarters, Katsina, were arrested after a daring shop burglary behind Katsina Central Market.
Police said a complaint lodged at Sabon Gari Division prompted detectives into swift action. The gang was tracked to their hideout in Shararrar Pipe Quarters, where they were rounded up.
A search of the hideout led to the recovery of two cutlasses, two long sharp knives, two clubs, one iron rod, and a black beret, all seized as exhibits.
Police spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the arrest, adding that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion.
