The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, is witnessing a remarkable transformation under the visionary leadership of Commandant AD Ahmad fsf, MADM, FCAI, who assumed office as the 8th substantive Commandant just seven months ago.
Appointed by the amiable and indefatigable Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, Commandant Ahmad has set new standards in administration and operations, earning widespread recognition for repositioning the Command towards efficiency and excellence.
Upon resumption, Ahmad carried out a comprehensive review of both administrative and operational strategies, introducing reforms that strengthened surveillance, intelligence gathering, conflict and disaster mitigation, staff welfare, and stakeholder engagement.
His leadership has not only improved security operations but also created a more conducive working environment. He upgraded the quarter guard, renovated the entire Command headquarters, modernized the conference hall, and even installed street lights across the premises for enhanced security and aesthetics.
Commandant Ahmad has also placed top priority on the training and retraining of personnel, ensuring officers are better equipped to tackle the evolving security challenges in Katsina. A roadmap has been designed to enhance capacity development, particularly in basic and specialized courses.
Beyond internal reforms, the Commandant’s efforts have focused on reducing crime, curbing vandalism, sanitizing petroleum and scrap businesses, and enforcing standards in private security companies, all aimed at boosting public confidence in the NSCDC.
With these initiatives, the Katsina NSCDC under Commandant Ahmad continues to stand as a model of proactive security management, delivering on its mandate of protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure across the state
