The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully apprehended three suspected vandals, marking a major victory in the fight against infrastructure sabotage.
Under the dynamic leadership of Commandant Jamilu A. Indabawa, the command’s renewed anti-vandal efforts, spearheaded by CSC Musa Adam Usman, have borne fruit.
On July 4, 2024, the special anti-vandal team swiftly responded to a complaint from the Principal of GGSS Kabomo, leading to the arrest of Usman Usman, aged 29, from Bakori LGA, and his accomplice, Usman Lawal, from Funtua LGA.
The suspects, notorious for targeting public infrastructure, confessed to vandalizing a transformer and conspiring to sell the stolen materials.
Recovered items included a 350mm up-riser transformer cable and 75mm copper wire.
In a separate incident, Ibrahim Dahiru, aged 18, was caught red-handed by the anti-vandal patrol team at Gidan Kwakwa Federal Housing Estate, attempting to cut electric wires.
Commandant Indabawa assured the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating vandalism and urged citizens to support security efforts by providing timely intelligence.
The suspects are set to face prosecution following the completion of investigations.
