The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), under the leadership of Commandant Jamilu Abdu Indabawa, has apprehended a suspect involved in the vandalism of electric cables at the Daura Main Distribution Station of the Katsina State Water Board.
Acting on intelligence, the special surveillance team from the Daura Division arrested 20-year-old Umar Haruna of Chadi, Rahamawa, Daura Local Government Area.
The suspect, along with two accomplices, was caught red-handed while attempting to steal electric cables from the station. The accomplices remain at large.
Recovered from the suspect were seven electric cables and a hammer used in the crime.
Haruna confessed to the crime, revealing that the theft was planned on September 13 and executed in the early hours of September 14.
The Commandant assured residents of continued efforts to combat criminal activities in the state and urged the public to support security agencies with timely information.
The suspect will be charged in court after investigations are concluded.
