Katsina NSCDC Nabs Eight Vandals Amid Protest Ban

In a sweeping crackdown on crime, the Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), under the leadership of Commandant Jamilu A. Indabawa, has arrested eight suspected vandals before, during, and after the banning of nationwide protests in the state.

The command’s special Antivandal team, led by CSC Musa Adam Usman, fwc, apprehended the suspects for allegedly vandalizing streetlights and armoured cables.

Key arrests include Salmanu Mas’ud, 25, and his accomplice Aminu, who targeted streetlights in Kofar Yandaka; Shamsu Sani, 25, and Muhammadu Ahmed, 18, who vandalized cables at Kofar Sauri; Kabir Sani, 20, and Auwal Bishir, 18, caught red-handed in Magangarin Makudawa; Yusuf Ibrahim, 20, who struck during ongoing protests; and Muhammad Sama’ila, 19, and Umar Abu-Sufiyanu, 24, involved in a large-scale theft at Magangarin Makudawa.

Recovered exhibits include armoured cables, diggers, hacksaws, and shovels.

Commandant Indabawa emphasizes continued efforts to safeguard national assets and urges the public to cooperate with security agencies to maintain peace in Katsina State.

The suspects will face prosecution after investigations conclude.
