Katsina NSCDC Marks International Day of Peace with Sensitization, Walk for Unity

The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) commemorated the 2024 International Day of Peace with a week-long series of activities, starting with public sensitization on the theme, “Cultivating the Culture of Peace.”

The celebration, which kicked off on September 21st, featured a public lecture on the NSCDC’s role in fostering peace, as well as a symbolic peace walk held on September 24th. Officers, led by Commandant Jamilu Abdu Indabawa, marched through major roads in Katsina, advocating for peace and unity in homes, offices, and communities.

Addressing the Corps after the walk, Commandant Indabawa reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to promoting peace and security across the state, urging citizens to embrace peaceful practices. He highlighted the leadership of Commandant General A.A. Audi and the Corps’ renewed strategies, including enhanced training in peace and conflict resolution.

The Head of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit, SC Ibrahim Abba, emphasized the NSCDC’s role in mediating disputes, citing successful interventions in conflicts involving marital issues, land disputes, and farmer-herder relations.

The event underlined the Corps’ dedication to fostering a peaceful environment in Katsina and beyond.
