The Katsina State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant AD Ahmad, on Friday joined dignitaries, religious leaders, and faithful at a special prayer session to mark the 2025 edition of Yaumush Shukur (Thanksgiving Day), a spiritual commemoration of Allah’s blessings and bounties upon Katsina State.

The well-attended session, held at a designated prayer ground in the state capital, witnessed emotional supplications and heartfelt expressions of gratitude for the relative peace, growth, and resilience Katsina has experienced despite security and socio-economic challenges.

Commandant AD Ahmad, representing the NSCDC at the solemn event, described the day as a powerful reminder of divine mercy and a call for collective thanksgiving.

“We are here today to give thanks to the Almighty for His continued favour upon Katsina State. Yaumush Shukur is not just a day of prayer, but a symbol of hope, unity, and renewed faith in the Almighty’s protection and guidance,” he stated.

Religious clerics offered special prayers for the state leadership, security agencies, and all citizens, asking Allah to strengthen peace efforts and rid communities of all forms of insecurity.

Commandant Ahmad urged the people of Katsina to remain grateful, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies, noting that divine blessings flourish more in communities that uphold peace, unity, and moral values.

“As security operatives, we are committed to our duty, but true safety comes when citizens and communities actively cooperate, guided by faith and gratitude,” he added.

The 2025 Yaumush Shukur celebration highlighted the spiritual fabric of Katsina’s resilience and served as a platform to renew prayers for enduring peace, divine mercy, and a prosperous future for the state and its people.
