The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, Katsina State Chapter, has joined the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day 2025, emphasizing the need for sustained gender equality, empowerment, and inclusion.
Under the theme ‘For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment’, Katsina NAWOJ commended the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women worldwide, particularly in governance, media, and socioeconomic development.
The association praised Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration for its commitment to women’s inclusion through key appointments, acknowledging that women remain the backbone of society and the economy. NAWOJ highlighted the governor’s strides in fostering financial independence for women and urged for stronger policies to promote girl-child education, economic participation, and decision-making roles.
“As women journalists, we pledge to amplify our voices through our stories to promote a culture of inclusivity at all levels,” stated Hannatu Mohammed, Chairperson of NAWOJ Katsina State.
NAWOJ also called on organisations within the state to provide equal opportunities for women to attain leadership positions, reinforcing the importance of breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes.
As the world marks this significant day, Katsina NAWOJ reaffirmed its dedication to advocating for policies that ensure a just and equitable society for all.
