In a remarkable push for educational advancement at the grassroots, the Executive Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Hon. Isah Miqdad AD Saude, has granted full scholarships to 96 students pursuing studies at the Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM).

The scholarship scheme was formally unveiled on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, during a colourful event held at the KSITM auditorium. The occasion also featured the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the local government and the institution, setting the tone for a long-term collaboration on youth and educational development.

Describing the initiative as a bold leap forward, Hon. Miqdad stated that education remains a key priority under his administration, stressing that no community can achieve sustainable progress without investing in human capital.

“This scholarship package is not just financial aid; it is a firm statement that we are building the future today by investing in our brightest minds,” he declared.

The Chairman lauded the scholarship recipients for their academic determination, urging them to stay focused and make the most of the opportunity.

“You are now ambassadors of excellence. Carry this responsibility with pride and use this chance to grow, lead, and contribute meaningfully to society,” he advised.

He also commended parents and guardians for their continued sacrifices in supporting their children’s educational journeys, noting that their encouragement plays a vital role in shaping responsible and productive citizens.

In a goodwill message from the Ministry of Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education, the Honourable Commissioner, Alhaji Muhammad Isah Musa—represented by Dikko Bala Kofar Sauri—praised the initiative as a laudable model of local government commitment to youth development.

Bala highlighted that the sponsorship of over 100 students by the Katsina Local Government Chairman aligns with the broader vision of Governor Marlene Yuko Umarora, Ph.D., COM, who remains committed to raising educational standards and shutting down illegal tertiary institutions across the state.

“Our resolve is firm in ensuring quality and integrity in our higher institutions. Efforts like these reinforce our mission to empower the youth through credible education pathways,” he stated.

Bala also called on other local government chairmen to replicate the gesture, emphasizing that true progress lies in the deliberate nurturing of young talents.

“Education is the most powerful investment in our collective future. This act of generosity by Hon. Miqdad sets a shining example for others to follow,” he added.

The ceremony drew a wide array of dignitaries including Katsina Local Government Lawmaker Hon. Aliyu Abubakar Albaba, the APC Chairman of Katsina LG, the Rector of KSITM, and former Special Adviser to Governor Masari, Hon. Tanimu Sada. Also in attendance were students, parents, community leaders, and well-wishers who applauded the move.

This scholarship programme marks a significant milestone in the partnership between Katsina Local Government and KSITM, symbolizing a shared vision of inclusive growth, youth empowerment, and long-term community development.
