Katsina State has launched an ambitious Mechatronics Apprenticeship Support Program (MASP) to empower 3,000 youths, backed by a N3.4 billion investment from the government.
Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, during the flag-off event at the NYSC orientation camp, highlighted the program’s potential to transform the state’s economy and foster innovation.
In collaboration with the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), the Katsina State Enterprises Development Agency (KASEDA) will ensure participants receive quality education, practical experience, and a monthly allowance.
The first phase of the training program, with a budget of N58 million, is set to last six months, after which top performers will advance to the next phase.
Governor Radda emphasized the inclusivity of the initiative, aiming to benefit marginalized and vulnerable groups, including women and persons with disabilities.
He called on stakeholders, including government agencies, the private sector, and civil society organizations, to support the program’s success.
Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Aliyu Lawal Shargalle, praised the governor’s commitment to youth development and a transparent selection process.
KASEDA Director General Hajia Aisha Aminu Malumfashi assured that the program would extend to other fields, with successful graduates receiving startup packages to kickstart their careers.
