The Katsina State Hisbah Board has destroyed a large quantity of alcoholic beverages and illicit substances in Funtua Local Government Area, as part of its ongoing campaign against activities considered unlawful and immoral in the state.
According to the Hisbah Commander, Dr. Aminu Usman, the items destroyed include thousands of bottles and crates of alcohol, alongside several containers of locally brewed drinks. He explained that the operation is in line with the board’s mandate to enforce moral discipline and ensure compliance with the state’s prohibition of alcohol.
Dr. Usman said the destruction exercise followed raids carried out across parts of Funtua, where the banned items were seized from sellers and distributors. He noted that alcohol consumption remains prohibited under the state’s moral code, adding that Hisbah will intensify its patrols and surveillance to curb the circulation of such products.
He further called on residents, religious leaders, community heads, and parents to support the board’s efforts by providing timely information that can help prevent immoral activities and safeguard the society.
The commander emphasized that Hisbah remains committed to promoting good morals, protecting young people from harmful behaviour, and ensuring that communities across Katsina comply with established laws.
The latest operation in Funtua adds to a series of similar raids conducted by the Hisbah Board in recent months, as authorities continue to clamp down on the sale and distribution of alcohol in the state.
