Katsina State Government, in collaboration with the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) and Katsina Youth Craft Village (KYCV), has concluded a transformative two-day training workshop for 300 teachers across the state’s three senatorial zones.
The training focused on briquette production, modern mud stoves, and waste-to-wealth initiatives, empowering educators with skills aligned with global climate action and sustainable energy practices. The program featured 100 teachers from each senatorial zone—Katsina, Daura, and Malumfashi—aiming to inspire innovation among adolescent girls and promote eco-friendly practices.
Engr. Kabir Abdullahi Kofar Soro, KYCV’s State Coordinator, highlighted the program as a cornerstone of Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda’s “Building Your Future” agenda. “This initiative transforms KYCV into a premier skills hub for youth and women, equipping teachers to foster sustainable practices in schools,” he said.
Participants received hands-on training to implement eco-friendly solutions, such as briquettes and modern stoves, in their institutions, creating a ripple effect of sustainability across communities. Engr. Kofar Soro also commended Governor Radda’s innovative waste-to-wealth projects, including Chinese-inspired techniques for converting corn husks into eco-friendly products like bags and shoes.
The initiative stems from AGILE’s visit to KYCV, where they were inspired by the Governor’s commitment to environmental and economic transformation. This effort represents a leap forward in tackling unemployment and promoting sustainable development in Katsina State.
