The Katsina State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting sporting activities, pledging to empower the youth in showcasing their talents and achieving their dreams.
State Deputy Governor, Faruk Jobe, made this assurance on Monday while receiving representatives from Bondy Academy (France) and Tabic Sport Agency (Canada), who visited the Katsina Government House alongside the Katsina Football Academy. Their visit followed the successful conclusion of the Dikko Radda Football Scouting Tournament, aimed at identifying promising young footballers in the state.
The three-day tournament, held at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, featured top local teams, including:

168 young footballers (U-16 & U-18) were given a chance to impress international scouts, with nine standout players successfully selected for placement in international clubs.
Speaking at a press briefing, Hon. Aliyu Lawal Shargalle, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, confirmed that the selected players were grouped into three categories for placement abroad.
The Chairman of Katsina Football Academy, Ahmad Muhammad, commended Governor Dikko Radda for his financial and moral support, emphasizing that beyond football, the academy also educates players in mathematics, English, and ICT.
He urged young players to stay focused, avoid drugs and social vices, and seize this golden opportunity.
“Football is not just a game; it’s a career path that can uplift individuals, families, and entire communities,” Muhammad noted.
The success of the Dikko Radda Football Scouting Tournament reaffirms Katsina State’s growing reputation as a hub for developing football talent, with global opportunities now within reach for its young stars.
