Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has been celebrated for his transformative efforts to empower women in governance.
Participants of the 18th Executive Intelligence Management Course at the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Abuja, honored the Governor during a keynote lecture on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Dr. Sirajo Yakubu, Esq., a prominent speaker at the event, spotlighted Governor Radda policies as a gold standard for gender inclusion.
Addressing an audience of security experts, military officials, and civil servants from Nigeria and beyond, Dr. Yakubu’s lecture, “Civil Society and Democracy in Africa,” singled out Katsina State for its groundbreaking strides under the Governor’s leadership.
“Governor Radda isn’t just talking about equality—he’s building it,” said Dr. Yakubu.
“He’s appointed three women as commissioners, including the Attorney General, alongside dozens of female special advisers, agency heads, and grassroots leaders. This isn’t tokenism—it’s a blueprint for Africa.”
The Governor’s strategy extends beyond high-level roles. Every local government in Katsina now has at least one woman serving as a civil service councilor and another as a special adviser on women’s issues.
Dr. Yakubu also highlighted the state’s 361 Community Development Committees (CDCs), where women lead efforts to shape community projects without political meddling. “These committees aren’t just checkboxes—they’re powerhouses driving real change,” he added.
The lecture ended with a heartfelt moment: Dr. Yakubu invited the audience to rise in a standing ovation for Governor Radda.
The room—filled with policymakers and security leaders—responded with resounding applause, cementing Katsina’s reputation as a pioneer in inclusive governance.
