The Katsina State Government has expended the sum of N2,476,799,800.00 to
provide full scholarship to 41 student to study Human Medicine (MBBs) in
Egypt and Trained some resident Doctor in the country.
Alh. Farouk Jobe, the Katsina Deputy, Governor disclosed this during the
second addition of the state monthly press briefing on Tuesday in Katsina.
Jobe further disclosed that the state government had expend the sum of
N2,449,899,800 for the 41 student doctors as tuition, accommodation,
transportation, books and upkeep allowance for the entire duration of the study
programme.
According to him, the state government had also expended the sum of
N26,900,000.00 for training of some resident Doctors working with the state
government for their residency training in the country.
The Deputy Governor said that the entry point of salary for Medical Doctors
had been reviewed upward to boost their morale to improve efficient health care
delivery services in the state.
“In order to improve the capacity of indigenous Medical Doctors and other to
become Specialist, this administration has also commenced residency training
on obstetrics and Gynecology, pediatrics and family medicine in Turai Yar’adua
and General Hospital in Katsina”.
“The Katsina Government has recruited additional 254 Health Personnel for
secondary health facilities in the state in order to inject more man-power to
handle growing health demand in the state.
