In a move to honor the beginning of the Islamic New Year, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has declared Monday, July 8, 2024, a public holiday.
This date, which corresponds to the 2nd of Al-Muharram, 1446 AH, allows the Muslim community to celebrate and reflect on the significance of the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) Hijrah from Makkah to Medina.
Governor Radda’s declaration, announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, congratulates Muslims statewide and globally on the new year.
He encourages all to embrace the teachings of the Prophet (SAW) and calls for continued efforts toward peaceful coexistence among diverse communities.
Governor Radda also urges religious leaders to use this occasion to preach peace and pray for relief from the current security and economic challenges.
He wishes everyone in the state a prosperous year and a bumper harvest.
