Players from the Katsina Football Academy have embarked on a promising journey to Doha, Qatar, to participate in a highly anticipated football scouting tournament.
On behalf of the State Commissioner for Sports, Aliyu Lawal Zakari Shargalle, the Director of the Katsina Sports Council, Audu Bello, bid farewell to the young footballers, charging them to represent the state with discipline and sportsmanship.
The players will depart from Kano on Friday, February 21, 2025, for the week-long tournament, where they will compete against top Qatari clubs, including Al Rayyan, Al Dohen, and Al Sahel.
This international opportunity provides Katsina’s homegrown talents with a platform to showcase their skills and potentially secure professional football careers beyond Nigeria.
Shamsuddeen Ibrahim, the Academy’s Director of Football, expressed confidence in the team’s preparedness, emphasizing their commitment to making the most of the tournament.
The delegation to Doha includes Academy Chairman Ahmed Muhammad, State Sports Commissioner Aliyu Lawal Zakari, and Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Mustapha Sani Bello.
