Katsina Empowers Future Leaders: 500 Girls Graduate from Skills Acquisition Centre

In a groundbreaking ceremony today, Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda celebrated the graduation of 500 young women from the Skills Acquisition Centre under the Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development.

The graduates, trained in diverse fields, include 141 in tailoring, 114 in leatherwork, 53 in catering, 27 in computer skills, 90 in cosmetology, and 76 in knitting. Addressing the audience, Governor Radda highlighted the program as a testament to his administration’s commitment to empowering young women.

“Today is not just about skills or certificates; it’s about fulfilling our promise to young women that their dreams are valid and their aspirations achievable,” he said, urging the graduates to use their newfound skills as catalysts for change.

The Governor lauded the department’s efforts and emphasized his administration’s broader vision of creating educational and economic opportunities for the state’s youth.

Hon. Jamila Abdu Mani, Special Adviser on Girl Child Education, revealed the program’s leap into advanced technology with 100 trainees now enrolled in robotics courses. She spotlighted remarkable achievements, including prototypes of self-driving cars and automated irrigation systems, showcasing the program’s innovative scope.

Guest speaker Malama Murjanatu Ibrahim Duwan underscored the importance of continuous learning, affirming that education remains key to empowering women.

This milestone reflects Governor Radda’s vision for a progressive, inclusive Katsina, where young women play pivotal roles in driving social and economic transformation.
