In a heartfelt gesture of support, the Katsina State Police Command has disbursed over ₦10.9 million to families of 34 police officers who died in active service.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, who was represented by DCP Aminu Usman Gusau, handed out the cheques under the Group Life Assurance and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme at a solemn event held at the Command Headquarters.
The total sum—₦10,957,292.72—was distributed as part of the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts to honor its fallen heroes and support their loved ones.
Speaking during the presentation, CP Shehu praised the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of personnel and the families they leave behind.
“This is not just financial support—it’s a symbol of gratitude and remembrance. The sacrifices of our fallen officers will never be forgotten,” he stated, urging the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely in honor of their loved ones’ legacies.
On behalf of the recipients, Nuhu Bello Gohe expressed deep appreciation for the support and assured that the funds would be put to meaningful use.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the departed officers and a group photograph capturing the emotional moment.
This development underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to stand with the families of its personnel—even after the ultimate sacrifice.
