
Katrina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari has charged APC stakeholders to strictly adhere to the guidelines of the State Independent Electoral Commission in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
The Governor’s who was speaking during the APC stakeholders meeting ahead of the Local Government Elections held at the Government house presidential Banquet hall.
Masari said the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has provided ninety days notice to ensure the successful conduct of any elections.
The governor maintains that the state Independent electoral commission also provided thirty days notice from the time of announcing the date for the conduct of the local government elections to political parties for fielding their candidates.
He said this necessitated the state APC executives to the stakeholders meeting to ensure that all the pre-election matters are conformed with the guidelines of the Constitution of the State Independent Electoral Commission.
Governor Masari enjoyed all the APC stakeholders and was faithful to always put the state and the party above their personnel interests to achieve the desired success.
Masari pointed out that the APC Constitution has provided that nomination of candidates for the position of council Chairman shall be through direct indirect primary election or consensus.
He added that the nomination of candidates for the councillorship position shall either be through the direct primary election of the ward level or consensus.
Aminu Masari, therefore, charged the APC stakeholders to ensure Justice and fairness in the process of finding the candidate in the conduct of the party’s primary elections to ensure more Unity and success of the party.
Earlier the state APC Chairman Muhammad Sani Aliyu said the essence of the meeting was to enable the stakeholder’s to offer meaningful advice and suggestions ahead of the party’s primaries for the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
The state APC Chairman revealed the party would commence the sales of form to the interested candidate from the 25th to 29th of January 2022.
He assured that the party would comply with all the guidelines provided by the party’s contrition for the State Independent electoral commission as well as the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to achieve the desired success.
In a remark the deputy state APC Chairman Bala Abubakar Musawa spoke extensively on the timetable provided for the conduct of the APC Councillorship and Chairmanship screening and primary elections head of the local government elections in the state.
