KATGIS Seals NNPC Mega Station, Others Over Unpaid Ground Rent

Katsina state government

The Katsina State Geographic Information Service (KATGIS) has sealed several landed properties across the state capital over non-payment of annual ground rent and accumulated arrears.

Among the affected properties are the NNPC Mega Station, Bifocal Filling Station, A.A. Rahamawa on Murtala Mohammed Way, AYFIR Filling Station on IBB Way, Masha Allahu Filling Station along Batsari Road, and Pinnacle Petroleum at Kofar Guga. Others include the NLC Office, Ansarul-Islam premises in Daki Tara, Usman Danfodio Institute at Kofar Kaura Layout, and WECCO Partners along Mani House Road.

The enforcement exercise, led by the Head of Customer Relations, Malam Nura Muktar Mahuta, followed the expiration of a 14-day notice issued to all defaulting property owners. He explained that failure to pay annual ground rent constitutes a violation of the law, attracting sanctions such as the sealing of affected properties until all outstanding payments are cleared.

Malam Mahuta warned that the properties would remain sealed until the owners settled their debts, adding that the exercise would be sustained and extended to other parts of the state.

He urged all property owners to visit the KATGIS office to update their land records and avoid further enforcement actions.

KATGIS, mandated to digitize all land records and regulate land administration in Katsina State, reaffirmed that the operation aligns with the provisions of the Land Use Act and other relevant regulations guiding land management in the state.
