The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC has on Friday rescheduled the local government elections into the 44 LGAs of the state to hold October 26th, 2024.
The Chairman of the commission Prof. Sani Lawan announced the rescheduling while addressing newsmen in the commission’s headquarters on Friday.
Prof.Sani Lawan said the development was in compliance with the October deadline for conduct of the LG elections handed to the electoral bodies by the Supreme Court.
If you can recall that the local government elections in the state was earlier slated for November 30th, 2024.
“In recognition and conformity with the recent Supreme Court decision, the mutual agreement between States and Federal Governments and upon the expiration of October deadline on Local Government Financial Autonomy.
The Commission is justifiably impelled to reschedule the already scheduled Local Government Election to 26th October, 2024 as against 30th November, 2024.
“The Commission therefore, implored you the stakeholders to understand the compelling situation and give the Commission your most deserving support and cooperation.
