A 30-year-old man, identified as Usaini Usaini, has been apprehended by the Kano State Police Command over the alleged rape and murder of a mentally challenged woman in Kwasangwami village, Gezawa Local Government Area.
According to security sources who spoke to this platform, the harrowing incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday when the suspect reportedly forced his way into the home of one Abdullahi Idris, aged 50, and assaulted his daughter, 30-year-old Abula Idris, who was said to suffer from mental illness.
“The suspect allegedly had carnal knowledge of the victim against her will, leading to injuries that resulted in her death,” a source revealed.
The distressing case was brought to the attention of authorities by the village head of Kwasangwami. Police officers were immediately deployed to the location, where they recovered the victim and rushed her to Sir Sanusi General Hospital. Sadly, she was confirmed dead upon arrival.
Usaini was swiftly taken into custody, and investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
The Kano State Police Command has vowed to ensure that justice is pursued to its fullest extent in the case.
