The Kano State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in the investigation of the tragic killing of a housewife and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, arresting three principal suspects in a swift, intelligence-driven operation.
Acting on the directives of the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, crack detectives moved in under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, and dismantled the alleged syndicate within hours of the incident.
Police sources disclosed that the arrests followed a sting operation conducted between late Friday night and the early hours of Saturday, leading to the capture of Umar Auwalu (23), Isyaku Yakubu, also known as “Chebe” (40), and Yakubu Abdulaziz, alias “Wawo” (21). Investigators revealed that the alleged ring leader is a close relative of the deceased and has reportedly made confessional statements linking the group to other violent crimes in parts of Kano metropolis.
Items recovered from the suspects include blood-stained clothing, two mobile phones belonging to the victims, and weapons believed to have been used in the attack, alongside cash allegedly taken from the scene. Police say investigations are ongoing to uncover the full scope of the suspects’ activities and possible accomplices.
The Command commended the officers involved for their professionalism and thanked residents for their support and cooperation, assuring the public that justice will be pursued diligently and decisively.
