The Executive Chairman of Potiskum Local Government, Salisu Muktari, has been commended by the National President of Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN), Khalil Mohd Bello, for providing water points to herders in the local government area.
The commendation was made during a courtesy visit by Khalil Mohd Bello and his entourage to the Chairman at the Potiskum Local Government Council chamber. Muktari has promised to provide more water points for herders in the 2025 fiscal year, in addition to his previous excellent performances in providing water points to pastoralists in the area.
During the meeting, Khalil Mohd Bello called on pastoralists in Potiskum local government area and its environs to continue living in peace with one another by avoiding the destruction of farmlands, especially during the ongoing harvesting period. He emphasized that pastoralists and farmers are partners in progress.
Bello also acknowledged the government’s commitment, under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, to ending the conflicts between farmers and cattle rearers in the state. He appreciated the warm reception and hospitality accorded to him and his entourage by the Executive Chairman and the people of Potiskum town and its surroundings.
In his remarks, Alhaji Salisu Muktari assured the readiness of the local government council to support KACRAN in achieving its objectives. He pledged to construct a water point for pastoralists in the area and called on KACRAN’s leadership to identify the location for the water facilities.
