Bishop Stephen Mamza, Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, has called on Christian faithful to intensify prayers for judges and lawyers in Nigeria to succeed in ensuring justice for all, especially the less privileged.
Mamza made the call at the Catholic Lawyers’ Association (CLA) Mass and Thanksgiving Service in commemoration of 2024 legal year in Yola on Sunday.
Mamza, who was represented by Rev. Father Maurice kwairanga, the patron of the CLA, Yola Diocese, said the legal practitioners faced different challenges in courts, hence, the need to pray for them.
He called on the practitioners to maintain cordial relationships with the diocese and ensure their actions were in line with the law.
The cleric, who expressed delight over the respectful attitude of lawyers to their senior colleagues, urged them to maintain the practice.
He said discipline in legal profession was something other professions should emulate.
Mamza further called on the congregation to be faithful, honest and to assist those, who are in need in their respective communities.
“Do not steal, kill and commit adultery in your life. Above all, use your wealth to assist the needy for more blessings,” he said.
He further solicited support and cooperation of Christian faithful for more success in the church and Christianity in general.
“You know we have some projects and we will be hosting the national conference of catholic bishops in 2027 which is going to be the first to be hosted by the state,” he said.
