Alhaji Abdulaziz Maituraka, a legislative aide to the Deputy Senate President has urged journalists to ensure facts in the reportage of insecurity matters in the state and Nigeria.
Maituraka who made this observation while speaking with members of the NUJ Correspondents’Chapel in Katsina at the weekend, lauded the maturity being exhibited by Journalists in addressing the facts of the menace in the state.
According to him, there is the need for journalists to be cautious of their reportage on such matters to avoid tarnishing the image of the state and Nigeria at large.
He appealed to the state working journalists to rally round the Governor Radda led administration to enable him continue with his developmental initiatives for the improvement of the state and its citizens to better their lot.
He also urged the people of Katsina state to be patient with the administration, as the Governor Radda led administration was on top of the security challenges confronting the state.
Maituraka further commended the Katsina state government for conducting a hitch free local government elections which is devoid of any rancour.
Meanwhile, the Katsina state chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) have conceded defeat after the state electoral commission declared 24 of the 34 local government elections results in the state.
Salisu Lawal Boyi, the state IPAC chairman made the council position known while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the elections held on February 15th, in Katsina on Sunday.
Boyi who noted that, while IPAC may have had their differences and concerns, they have conceded defeat, commending the state electoral body for their efforts in ensuring a peaceful and transparent electoral process in the state.
“While we may have had our differences and concerns, we have conceded
defeat and acknowledged the significant strides made in promoting democracy in our dear State”, he stated.
The state IPAC chairman however commended it’s candidates, who contested in the elections and lost, saying, “I salute your courage, determination, and commitment towards serving our great State. I also commend your faith in conceding defeat in the system and your desire to contribute to the development of Katsina State”.
“As we move forward, let us not forget the values that unit us as a people. Coexistence, respect for one another and the pursuit of the common good.
In conclusion, We shall regroup, reassess and comeback stronger in the future”, he concluded.
