JISRA TRAINS JOURNALISTS IN KADUNA ON HOW TO AVOID RELIGIONS’ CONFLICTS IN THEIR REPORTAGE

In a bid to ensure holistic approach in reportage of activities of different religions so as to curtail conflicts between different religions in the country, a Joint Initiative for Strategic Reglious (JISRA) has organized a Two Day Capacity Building Workshop for journalists in Kaduna State

The theme of the workshop is anchored on the Role of Media Interfaith Relations and Peace Building.

In his opening remarks, the Country Coordinator of JISRA in Nigeria, Jude likita said that the project was began in 2021 and would end 2025 , adding that it was being implemented by JISRA and partners in Kaduna and Plateau States.

He said that the objectives of the project was to build trust, acceptance, foster dialogue, inclusive approach and acceptance of differences among various religious bodies.

He added that JISRA was proactive in the area of conflicts prevention by supporting environment without any discrimination of reglious or believe Identity.”

Earlier in his presentation, the Lobby and Advocacy Working Group Lead TearFund , Reuben Emmanuel explained to journalists on the core humanitarian chart and communities affected by crisis and how freedom of religion or believe was all about.

Also in her presentation, Little FORB Women and Youth Tide Leo the Programme officer Peace Building Catholic agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) said that women and youth involvement in advocacies , policy formulation and policy change, community sensitization and empowering women in the community was important in the fight against drug abuse in any community.

She said that drug abuse would lead to violence and extremism.
