Zamfara State’s JAMA’ATU IZALATIL BIDI’AH WA IQAMATIS-SUNNAH (JIBWIS) confirms the involvement of the Community Protection Guards (CPG) in the tragic murder of Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada.
The incident, which took place on March 5, 2024, in Mada town, Gusau Local Government Area, sparked outrage within the community.
JIBWIS expressed deep sorrow and condemned the brutal act, urging its members to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
Despite conflicting statements from the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris Bala, JIBWIS stands by the confirmation made by the CPG Commander, Col Yandoto (rtd), regarding the involvement of his men in the incident.
The organization calls on Bala to withdraw his statement defending the culprits and emphasizes the need to avoid encroaching on the responsibilities of trained professionals.
JIBWIS commits to seeking justice through legal channels and urges the public not to resort to vigilantism.
The leadership of JIBWIS extends heartfelt condolences to Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada’s family and calls on authorities to expedite the investigation, expose the perpetrators, and ensure justice is served.
