The long arm of the law has caught up with Kabiru Oyedun, a 39-year-old fugitive who escaped from the Ilesa Correctional Centre in Osun State during a recent jailbreak.
Oyedun was arrested on May 21 at about 5:35 p.m. in the Oshin-Welder area of Ayobo, Lagos, following a tip-off from vigilant residents, Zagazola Makama has learned.
Acting on the intelligence, detectives from Zone 2 Police Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos swung into action and apprehended the suspect without resistance.
Police sources confirmed that the Lagos State Comptroller of Corrections has been notified and will soon transfer Oyedun back to Osun for further action.
The arrest is a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to track down inmates who escaped during the Ilesa jailbreak, the details of which are still under investigation.
