Israel is pushing for a landmark 20-year military aid agreement with the United States that would see its annual defense assistance double to around $4 billion, according to Axios.
The proposed deal, which would extend U.S. military support through 2045, aims to replace the existing 10-year memorandum of understanding signed in 2016 under the Obama administration. That agreement currently provides Israel with $3.8 billion per year in security assistance.
Sources familiar with the discussions say the request reflects Israel’s growing security concerns amid regional instability and heightened tensions with Iran and Hezbollah.
If approved, the new arrangement would represent one of the longest and most lucrative military aid packages in U.S. history — a sign of Washington’s enduring strategic alliance with Jerusalem.
