The Kaduna Sate Ministry of Human and Social Services in collaboration with Global Peace Development (GPD) and Actionaid Nigeria supported by Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) have organized cultural peace fiesta .
The theme of the event is “Cultivating a Culture of Peace”.
In his welcome address, the Executive Director, Global Peace Development, Mr. Ebruke Onajite Esike said that the event was to commemorate international peace day through culture peace fiesta.
He said that their would be no peace if one does not construct their minds and work together in order to ensure that the responsibility of one another within the environment was achieved.
” We must work together and promote tolerance to amplify the United Nations security council resolution (2250) and sure safety security for everyone was their priority”.
He called on Kaduna youth to Embark in peace culture and also promote peace in respective of difference in culture race, ethnicity and Religion.
Earlier, the representative of Actionaid State Programme Officer , Serve III Kaduna, Aliyu Adamu said that the culture peace fiesta was all about dancing and how different ethnic groups come together to celebrate culture and their identity.
According to him, the celebration is to promote social cohesion , bring together different ethnic groups, religious bodies from different communities in Kaduna state to showcase their diversity and showcase their talents as well as come together to celebrate themselves as human entity to bring peace and development in Kaduna state.
In her keynote address, the State Commissioner , Ministry of Human and social Services , represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Docars Inti Benjamin Tanko said that the importance of cultivating culture of peace was essential for social cohesion and human prosperity.
She added that cultivating a culture of peace required collective efforts, empathy and understanding.
She thanked the organisers of the event and described it as timely, mutual respective and tolerance and non violent conflict resolution as well as community engagement and participation.
Highlight of the event was cultural troupes by groups of dancers and presentation of awards to winners of cultural groups.
