Internal Security Administrators Across 36 States, Abuja Meets In Bauchi

States and Federal Security Administrators (FASA) would converge in Bauchi today Thursday to discuss ways and strategies of curbing internal security challenges across the 36 states of the federation, and FCT Abuja.

Bauchi state Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Barrister Abdulhamid Abubakar Bununu Wednesday gave the hint of the national security meeting while showing his ministry’s scorecard at the ongoing reintroduced ministerial press briefing in Bauchi.

Hon. Abdulhamid Abubakar Bununu said that security administrators have already started arriving in Bauchi for the all-encompassing meeting, as the state government has already released the sum of 27, 680, 000 to facilitate the smooth and successful conduct of the event.

Barrister Abdulhamid Bununu who described the establishment of his ministry in Bauchi by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed as timely, said that it had since it’s setting up, been up and doing in learning the processes of its sensibilities.

Bununu, also the immediate past Commissioner of Justice in the state, explained that his new ministry formulate and coordinate policies on matters of internal security as provides policy implementation in Bauchi state.

He enumerated some of the objectives of the ministry as to enhance security and safety of the people of Bauchi state, and reduce incidences of crimes, violence, and insecurity across the state.

It is also to improve coordination and collaboration among security agencies and stakeholders, as well as to develop and implement comprehensive security policies and strategies for the state.

Others, according to the commissioner, is to strengthen intelligence gathering, analysis and sharing of information among the security agencies, and enhance the capacity of capabilities of state level security agencies and institutions.

Barrister Bununu further explained that the ministry is also to poster partnership in security management, and promote social cohesion and conflict resolution mechanism, among others.

He further explained that the ministry has the mandate to coordinate the activities of all security agencies operating in the state, formulate and oversee the Implementation of the state internal security policies

It is also to laise with federal security agencies to ensure a seamless security architecture, and manage state emergency response and disaster management system, as well as regulate and oversee private security outfits operating in the state.
