Some residents of Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto state on Friday expressed excitements over successes of military operations in North-west states.
Newsmen reports that in compliance with President Bola Tinubu’s directives, the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle and other military chiefs on Monday relocated to Sokoto State.
The directive was aimed at flushing all bandits camps and rid the North-West states of the menace of banditry, kidnapping and terrorism.
Newsmen reports that the air and ground troops operations have commenced parts of Katsina and Zamfara states and military have been destroying bandits camps in the affected communities areas.
A community leader, Malam Abdu Na’umma, described the operation as a great achievements and commended President Tunibu for the efforts toward ending the menace.
Na’umma appealed to the President not to consider any reconciliation plea by the bandit groups stressing that they have been terrorizing their areas for long.
He further commended the collaborative measures between military and other sister agencies toward ensuring safety of lives and properties in the nation.
Speaking also, Alhaji Musa Mai’akwai, described the military operation as the best and greatest hope of the citizens.
Mai’akwai said people in the areas have spent years being terrorize by bandits which have affected farming and other socio economic activities in the places.
He said the military operations have indicated that Bello Turji and other bandits gang leaders days were numbered.
He further called on security men and other citizens to continue exposing the collaborators who supported the banditry activities in their respective areas.
Mai’akwai commended the Federal Government efforts through the ministry of defense for the gigantic efforts.
Another resident of Isa, Malam Shehu Maishanu, said military air operation was the best option so far in tackling banditry and other forms of criminalities.
Maishanu urged Federal Government to sustain the strides in order to rid the nation of all forms of criminalities.
Newsmen recalled that Matawalle have assured the people of Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara and Kebbi states and the entire North West region that the security forces would leave no stone unturned in flushing out the bandits.
“I will be on ground in the North West with the CDS and other military chiefs, leading our brave men and women in uniform.
“I also call on residents of these states to remain vigilant and cooperate with the security forces as the Federal Government has resolved to protect the lives and properties of all Nigerians.
“The security and well-being of the people remain the government’s top priority,” the minister said while addressing the troops.
