Maj.-Gen. Ibikunle Ajose, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Division of Nigerian Army Sokoto, has urged people to pray for the success of personnel participating in various operations.
Ajose made the call during a special Jumuat prayer organized by the division as part of 2025 Nigerian Army Celebrations on Friday in Sokoto.
The Newsmen report that this year’s theme was ” Developing the Soldiers First Concept: Imperative for Nigerian Army Transformation Drive. ”
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. Abubakar Suru, Ajose said Nigerian Army personnel exerted selfless services at different operations to safeguarding peoples lives and property as well as sovereignty of the nation.
He said the purposeful sacrifices are beyond the imagination of the people and needed intensified prayers for their successes.
The GOC who is also the Commander Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA urged personnel to remain loyal, descipline and ensure professionalism on their duties.
He noted that Nigerian Army had historical backgrounds on participated various operations within and outside the country.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam 8 Division Islamic Affairs, Major Tanimu Hamisu, urged gallant men not to be distracted as their services was Godly and rewardful.
Hamisu qoated several Qur’anic and Prophetic injunctions highlighting the importance of Nigerian Army defending the defenseless, safeguarding the integrity of nation and its citizens.
He emphasized that colluding with terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers, sessionists and others was abomination which attract devine wrath.
Newsmen reports that the prayer was attended by seniors military officers, Head of security agencies, state government officials and traditional rulers.
