Determined to deliver a hitch-free poll, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has kicked off an intensive four-day Technical Training Workshop for Electoral Officers (EOs) and Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs) ahead of the 2026 Federal Capital Territory elections.
The high-level capacity-building session, themed “Effective Management of Key Election Activities,” opened Thursday at the Silver Green Hotel in Gudu, Abuja, bringing together key field officers central to election delivery.
INEC said the workshop is sharpening participants’ grasp of the electoral legal framework, policies and procedures, while equipping them with practical skills to plan, organise and manage critical election operations in strict compliance with guidelines. A major thrust of the training is the development of robust election implementation plans that strengthen administrative communication and ensure seamless coordination.
The Commission also highlighted sessions clarifying the roles, responsibilities and strategic importance of EOs and AEOs, describing the exercise as a cornerstone of preparations for the forthcoming FCT Area Council Elections.
With eyes firmly on credibility, transparency and professionalism, INEC reaffirmed that continuous capacity building remains its bedrock for delivering well-managed elections — as #FCTDecides2026 draws closer.
