The International Human Rights Advocacy and Awareness Centre (IHRAAC) has issued a strong condemnation following a daring raid on a Mosque in Gusau Town during the early hours of Tuesday. Bandits stormed the Mosque at 0200hr, kidnapping worshippers engaged in tahajjud (midnight) prayers.
In response to this shocking incident, IHRAAC is calling for immediate action:
1. Rescue Operation Urgency: IHRAAC demands swift deployment of a rescue operation by local and national authorities to secure the safe release of the abducted worshippers.
2. Heightened Security Measures: IHRAAC urges the immediate implementation of heightened security around mosques to deter future attacks and protect worshippers’ lives.
Furthermore, IHRAAC emphasizes the need for community vigilance, rapid response mechanisms, increased intelligence gathering, comprehensive support for victims and families, and strengthening law enforcement.
Standing in solidarity with Gusau Town, IHRAAC stresses unity in the face of violence and reaffirms its commitment to advocating for safety and rights.
