IGP to Officers: Drop the Rifles, Ditch the Mufti

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has issued a firm directive prohibiting operatives from carrying assault rifles while dressed in civilian attire (mufti).

In a bid to enhance professionalism and public confidence, the IGP warned that officers violating the directive would face strict disciplinary measures. He emphasized that the move aligns with ongoing police reforms aimed at ensuring a more disciplined and accountable force.
