ICCES Assures Peaceful Supplementary Election in Kaura-Namoda South

Katsina state government

The Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) has reassured residents of Kaura-Namoda South State Constituency of a peaceful, credible, and transparent supplementary election scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025.

The supplementary poll follows INEC’s declaration of the earlier by-election as inconclusive. Addressing the public, ICCES – comprising the Nigeria Police Force, INEC, and other security stakeholders – said all necessary security measures have been put in place to ensure orderliness and credibility.

ICCES appealed to political parties, candidates, community leaders, and voters to uphold peace and discipline, urging them to avoid violence, intimidation, or any act that could jeopardize the exercise.

“Security agencies have been fully mobilized and will discharge their duties with professionalism and impartiality. Any act of violence, disruption, or sabotage against the electoral process will be met with the full weight of the law,” ICCES co-chairs AIG Mohammed Usaini Gumel (NPF) and Dr. Mahmud Isah (REC, INEC) said in the joint statement.

ICCES assured that its strengthened security architecture would safeguard voters, election officials, and materials. It further called on the people of Kaura-Namoda South to come out peacefully and exercise their civic responsibility, stressing that democracy thrives on discipline, peace, and mutual respect.
