I Feel Sorry for Men with Only One Wife — Senator Ned Nwoko

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has sparked debate once again after declaring that he feels “sorry for men who have only one wife.”

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the lawmaker argued that polygamy brings balance, peace of mind, and stability to men and family life, likening it to standing on multiple legs for better balance.

“Just imagine telling you to stand on one foot. When you stand on two, three, or four, you’re much more balanced,” Nwoko said. “So, I feel sorry for those who have one wife because it’s difficult to stand on one leg.”

When asked about the religious dimension of his views, the senator, who is married to popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, maintained that the practice is supported by scripture.

“The Old Testament does. I am a man of faith,” he added confidently.

Nwoko dismissed rumours of domestic violence in his household, insisting that he loves and respects all his wives and children.

“I am not a violent person. I respect my wives and love them and my kids,” he said.

His remarks have reignited nationwide discussions about polygamy, a practice rooted in tradition and still widely accepted in parts of Nigeria. While some praised his candidness, others described his analogy as controversial and provocative.

Senator Nwoko, known for his unapologetic defense of polygamy, has previously argued that men who choose monogamy contribute to rising cases of infidelity and prostitution in society.
