How ACReASAL Encourages Farming Activities in Bauchi

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReASAL) Projects in Bauchi has reiterated it’s full determination to improve farming activities towards ensuring food security In the state.

To this end, ACReASAL assured that with the support of the state government, it has facilitated the provision of 20 brand new (2024) tractors in view of the demands of implements by farmers across the state.

The project has also procured 94 Rice milling, 470 knapsack sprayer machine, 47 multipurpose thresher, 47 decortication machines, and six animal feed crusher which would be provided to farmers on hire purchase basis.

The State Project Coordinator, Dr. Kabir Ibrahim Gamawa made the disclosure while interacting with journalists in Bauchi shortly the flagging off of the 2024 Rain-fed season and sale of agricultural implements and inputs in Dass.

Gamawa who said that the efforts were aimed at supporting the farmers in the state towards massive food production and security, revealed that the project has three major components of land restoration, community resilience and institutional strengthening to significantly improve environmental standard and living condition of people of the state.

Dr. Kabir Gamawa disclosed that plans are afoot for the planting of over one million three in areas facing environmental challenges under ACReSAL greening the environment, saving lives initiative which is targeting to restore one million hectares of degraded land.

The project coordinator explained that the procurement of two vehicles for Yankari Resort and Safari, and renovation of public conveniences at Wikki Warm Spring increased revenue generation by attracting tourists to the famous game reserve

He commended Governor Bala Mohammed-led administration for complementing effort of the World Bank Assisted project through the release of counterpart fund to facilitate execution of various other projects
