Housing Minister Unveils Milestones Under Renewed Hope Agenda

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, showcased the transformative achievements of his ministry under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dangiwa lauded President Tinubu’s decision to demerge Housing from the Ministry of Works, allowing a focused approach to tackling Nigeria’s housing challenges. “Housing is pivotal to improving lives, creating jobs, and driving economic growth,” he said.

Key Achievements

1. Renewed Hope Estates & Cities

12 Estates: 3,000 units in 12 states, funded via budget allocations.

Major Urban Projects: 3,112 units in the FCT and developments in Kano and Lagos.

2. Job Creation

Over 252,800 jobs created, with daily wages averaging ₦5,000, offering many workers monthly earnings far above the minimum wage.

3. Affordable Housing Options

The Rent-to-Own Scheme, National Housing Fund (NHF), and installment plans cater to low and middle-income earners.

4. Online Housing Portal

Over 47,605 Nigerians have used the Renewed Hope Online Housing Portal to streamline their applications.

5. Diverse Funding

₦50 billion from the 2023 Supplementary Budget, ₦27.2 billion in the 2024 Budget, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) ensure affordability and expansion.

6. Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs)

100,000 housing units nationwide with significant contributions from developers and institutions like Shelter Afrique Development Bank.

7. Innovations in Land Administration

Launch of a National Digital Land System in partnership with the World Bank and plans for Building Materials Manufacturing Hubs to lower costs.

Impact on Nigerians

Dangiwa emphasized the ministry’s commitment to ensuring every Nigerian can access affordable, dignified housing. He invited citizens to join the NHF scheme, explore affordable options, and contribute to the nation’s housing revolution.

“Our achievements in 14 months show that with transformative leadership, we can redefine Nigeria’s housing landscape for generations to come,” Dangiwa concluded.

This bold vision reflects President Tinubu’s unwavering resolve to improve lives, boost the economy, and build a brighter future for all Nigerians.
